2016-2017
TEA Lesson Study Teachers Recognized
Groves Elementary and Ridgewood Elementary teachers were recognized at the April, 2017, PN-GISD school board meeting with the district's Spotlight on Excellence award. Theses teachers were selected to participate in the Lesson Study as part of TEA's effort to improve teacher in-service training and support by introducing teacher-driven, reflective, job-embedded professional development and structures. The teacher-designed lessons were video recorded and will become available for other Texas educators through the Texas Gateway. These Groves Elementary and Ridgewood Elementary lesson study teachers are shining examples of PN-GISD's tradition of excellence, and their expertise will live on for many years to come!

A-F Accountability Overview
The 84th Legislature passed HB 2804, changing the Texas school accountability system so that every campus and district receives one of the ratings from A-F. Much like students receive grades in individual subjects and those are combined for a GPA, the law requires schools and districts to be issued grades based on five different areas of performance or "domains," and those five grades must be combined into a single overall rating." (excerpt from the Texas Education Agency A-F Overview)

Beginning in Spring 2018, each campus and the district will receive a letter grade A-F for each of the following five domains as well as an overall A-F rating.
  • Student Performance
  • Student Progress
  • Closing Performance Gaps
  • Postsecondary Readiness
  • Community & Student Engagement
TEA recently released a preliminary model of the A-F ratings based on the grade each campus and the district would have received for Domains I-IV for 2015-2016 had the A-F rating system been in place. This preliminary A-F rating does not impact the official 2016 district of campus accountability rating(s).
